#WebbReads Book Challenge

  • Upper schoolers can pick any of the 5 categories to complete.
  • You can only count books that you finish on or after December 20, 2019. You cannot count books that you read earlier in the year.
  • Each book can only count for 1 category.
  • You may submit books you read in class so long as they match a category.

Book Challenge Categories

A book in verse is a book where the story is told through poetry rather than prose. When you search for books in verse, use the keywords [novels in verse] or [stories in verse].

The main character, or one of the lead characters who has a point-of-view, has to belong to a group that is different from a group you belong to. According to the definition of We Need Diverse Books:

"We recognize all diverse experiences, including (but not limited to) LGBTQIA, Native, people of color, gender diversity, people with disabilities*, and ethnic, cultural, and religious minorities."

These books have been nominated for the Volunteer State Book Award, the state book award of Tennessee. Every May, students from across the state vote on their favorite book. In order to vote in May, you need to read at least 3 of the nominees, but you only need to read one for the #WebbReads Challenge.
