4. Contributors

Contributors are people who contribute to the creation of a work without being the primary author. Contributors include:

  • translators
  • editors of anthologies
  • film directors
  • music conductors
  • performing groups like dance companies or choirs

When there are Contributors, always include a label describing the role played, such as:

  • translated by
  • edited by
  • directed by
  • performed by
  • adapted by

Often, there are no Contributors, and if that is the case, skip to the next element.


18. Contributor

 

Describe the contributor’s role where appropriate (e.g., edited by, directed by, translated by, performed by, etc.). Capitalize the first letter in the role if it follows a period, but start with a lowercase letter if it follows a comma. The contributor name is written first name first and last name last. Use the et al. abbreviation when there are more than two contributors.
